Register for ArcPad Special Interest Group

Hi everyone,

If you are heading along to the lil' shin dig we're throwing for the launch of ArcPad 10 next week in San Diego, we welcome you to register for the ArcPad Special Interest Group. This session is designed to allow you, as users, to discuss your issues/wants/needs for the product rather than listen to someone from the ArcPad waffle on.

The session will be held on Wednesday 14th July, 16:30 – 17:30 in room 31B. Please email Kerry Somerville – ArcPad Product Manager to register for this.

We look forward to seeing and even more importantly, hearing from you!

Maybe you can brainstorm on how to solve the "low memory" problem w/arcpad 10 and a trimble nomad with 6GB of built-in memory.
Yes, I am able to load, without crashing arcpad 10 (unlike in arcpad 8 which would constantly crash) SOME of my image files (but not all). these are the same data sets which worked fine on a trimble recon 400mhz. it seems to me that the problem is hi res vga display. maybe it is best for me to dump the nomad and go with something less advanced display-wise?

We all must be cautious when making generalizations about data, in particular, raster images. However, in our own testing we have observed that high resolution (or VGA) mobile devices do use 4 times the amount of memory for every graphic action or activity, than a low resolution (or QVGA) device uses. Now this doesn’t mean that the VGA devices should not be used, but that this characteristic is taken into consideration when deploying mobile GIS projects. Chose data that suits your device, or vice versa, a device that suits your data.
